Aura vs Rowan

Both can watch an older adult’s bank transactions for signs of fraud and put a family member on the alerts. Aura does it inside a wider identity-protection plan she becomes a member of. The difference is what it asks of her, and what it costs. Every Aura figure below was read from their own published pages on September 26, 2026.

Who the alerts reach
RowanYou. Your parent never sees a dashboard.
AuraTrusted Family Access lets you view and help respond to safety alerts for an adult loved one on your Aura plan, with their consent. They choose what you can see, and they can change it at any time. Each assisted adult can have one caregiver at this time.

Prices read from aura.com/pricing, which shows each plan as a monthly rate “billed annually, or” a higher one billed monthly, and prints no yearly total. Trusted Family Access is listed on the Couple and Family plans, not Individual. How it works, what she does and what a caregiver can see are from their launch announcement and their help-center articles. Their service terms say a subscription renews at “the price shown in your account dashboard”, which the public pricing page does not state.

The actual difference

There is more than one way to do this. With Aura, she takes an adult spot on your Couple or Family plan and holds her own Aura account. Their help page says she receives an email inviting her to activate it, sets a password and enters her personal information, then accepts or declines each type of alert sharing: “Nothing is shared until they accept.” Their pages do not say whether she has to install anything, or who connects her bank accounts for transaction monitoring. With Rowan she never holds an account, never installs an app, never learns a screen, and never sees a dashboard. She follows one link — sent from your phone, in your own words — to connect her bank at her own bank’s sign-in page, and can undo it from that same link.

The rest follows from that. You are the one who hears about a problem, because you are the one who can do something about it. Every alert carries the reasons it fired, what to say when you call, and the account details a fraud line will ask for. And Rowan is read-only by construction — it can see, but never move, send or freeze money.

What Aura does that we don’t

  • It watches far more than transactions: 3-Bureau Credit Monitoring, SSN and dark-web exposure, home and auto title monitoring and public records, and a caregiver with access sees alerts about credit changes, such as new accounts or hard inquiries. Rowan reads transactions on the accounts she connects, and nothing about her credit or identity.
  • She sets the level of access — View Only or View & Act — and can change or revoke it at any time. With View & Act, a caregiver can manage select financial monitoring settings and update her saved passwords and documents in their Vault.
  • Every adult member on their plan is backed by a $1,000,000 identity theft insurance policy, and the Couple plan lists $2M Identity Theft Insurance. Rowan offers no insurance.
  • A U.S.-based fraud resolution team will create a remediation plan and hand-hold you through the process until the issue is fixed — though their announcement says a caregiver cannot contact support on her behalf.
  • Device and phone protection Rowan has nothing for: antivirus, a VPN, a password manager, and AI spam call and message protection.
  • They publish a 14-day free trial on any plan, and a 60-day money-back guarantee on annual plans.

We read Aura’s pricing page, their Trusted Family Access announcement and their own help-center articles, not their product. Nothing here judges how well their monitoring works, and we have not seen what a caregiver’s view looks like. If you want to compare them properly, their own page is the place to start — Aura pricing. Their prices change; ours are on our own page either way.
